Local & Insured
Unionville is a crossroads on Route 20 in Orange County, Virginia, 17.2 road miles and 27 minutes south of Culpeper across the Rapidan, at about 512 feet. It became a census-designated place in 2023, and Orange Springs, a landmark since 1992, is close by. The Rapidan is Orange County's northern line, so Unionville is the first stretch south of the river.
Farm country lifts slowly west toward the Blue Ridge on clay over rock, with oak and hickory on the ridges, poplar and red maple in the draws, walnuts by old houses, and thick pine and cedar on field edges. Clearing questions here go to the Orange County planning office, and we settle that before quoting.

Why a Culpeper Crew Comes to Unionville
Unionville is on the county roads past Rapidan, and we pair it with Rapidan and Orange estimates. There is no trip charge for crossing the river into Orange County.
Orange County's ridges and draws grow the oaks, poplars and cedars we cut every week at home. We know how they fail and how to rig them, and the written price is the same as in Culpeper.
Fields that went out of use twenty years ago are now Virginia pine and redcedar thickets. Luis brings the mulcher and the field comes back, with the good hardwoods left standing.
Unionville is unincorporated and falls under Orange County. A tree on your own land is your decision; for land clearing we check with the Orange County planning office first and tell you what applies.
We found none for a private tree. Unionville is unincorporated, so Orange County ordinances apply, and its erosion rules follow the same Virginia program as Culpeper's. Ask the Orange County planning or building office before large clearing, and mind the 4 PM Burning Law in spring. More in our permits guide.
If a ridge oak on your Unionville place is leaning at the house or an old field has gone to cedar, call or ask for a free estimate. Storm damage gets an answer the same day or the next; routine work is usually booked within a week or two.
