Remington is an incorporated town of about 630 people in Fauquier County, Virginia, 11.8 road miles and 19 minutes north of Culpeper, on the far bank of the Rappahannock where US-15, US-29, US-17 and Route 28 meet. It was once Rappahannock Station on the Orange and Alexandria Railroad and a port on the Rappahannock Canal, and two Civil War battles took the station's name.

The historic district joined the National Register in 2005. The whole town covers two-tenths of a square mile, so streets are close and shade trees are big: oaks, red maples and poplars over roofs and power drops, sycamores by the river.
