Warrenton, VA: Old Town Trees and Beyond

Warrenton is the county seat of Fauquier County, Virginia, a town of about 10,000 people 22.8 road miles and 36 minutes north of Culpeper, where US-15, US-17, US-29 and US-211 meet. It began as a trading post called the Red Store, incorporated January 5, 1810, and took the name of General Joseph Warren.

Old Town has been a National Register district since 1983, and at about 643 feet it sits higher than Culpeper. As the biggest town we serve, the work is town work: century-old oaks and poplars over brick homes and narrow Old Town streets, and maples, pines and Leylands in newer areas. Warrenton has its own code, so street trees go through the town office. We drive up the highway from Culpeper; we are not a Metro DC company driving down it.

Why a Culpeper Crew Comes to Warrenton

What Warrenton Gets With Us

Thirty-Six Minutes Up US-29

Warrenton is the far end of our list and we make it without a trip charge. Danielle groups Warrenton with Bealeton and Remington work so you are not waiting on a special trip.

Old Town Rigging

Old Town's brick houses, iron fences and narrow streets leave no room to drop anything. Tyler climbs and rigs every piece, and we schedule street-side work for quiet weekday mornings.

Neighborhood Screens and Maples

The white pines and Leyland cypress planted as screens in the newer neighborhoods have outgrown their lots. We take the leaners and the broken tops and prune the rest back to a safe line.

A Town With Its Own Code

Warrenton writes its own ordinances, separate from Culpeper's. A tree wholly on your lot is your call; for a tree over a town street or in the historic district we suggest a quick call to the town office first.

What Warrenton Homeowners Ask

Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Warrenton?

We found no home-lot tree permit, but Warrenton keeps its own town code. A tree over a town street or sidewalk means a call to the town office first, and street, sidewalk and burning rules much like Culpeper's are typical. More in our permits guide.
